Talk to your children about their use of the internet
The time to talk to your children about what to post and not post on facebook is when you allow them to open the account. They should know that threatening and bullying people is not okay. You should check your child’s account and be friended with them.
This young woman was suspended for posting a threatening comment about her teacher. I hope she’s learned a vaulable lesson.
For that matter, you should talk to your children about what to not do with their phones (sexting or nekkid pictures of you will haunt you forever), what to not do with email—there is no privacy on the web, what exactly is TMI on facebook or email and how to avoid it, and when to text and not to text. (Not on dates. Not if you want to make that person feel special.)
Full Disclosure: My aunt is a principal, and once had a webpage put up about her titled “[My aunt] is a **tch.” She was told she couldn’t do anything about it. I obviously am biased in this case.
